CHURCHILL: WINTER

We headed back with an adventurous workshop group to experience the polar bear capitol of the world as the bears await the return of the sea ice. The snowy, windswept landscape literally took my breath away. Churchill in the winter is a wonderland of wildlife and perfect white on white photographic opportunity. The bears are hungry and ready to go back to hunting on the ice... but the ice is late this year which means the bears are gathering near the coast preparing to head out to the sea ice as soon as the opportunity arises. In the meantime they are getting antsy and looking for opportunities for food closer to town. Our guides were exceptional and I can't thank them enough for the incredible photo opportunities while keeping us (and the bears) safe while on land, at eye level with the world's largest land predator.
